About the Role
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is looking for a Health Field Officer (HFO) to help with health interventions in Kadugli, Kordofan , a place in Sudan that is a very difficult humanitarian situation.
As a Health Field Officer, you are going to be the most important person to help carry out health activities that are in line with ICRC Sudan Health Strategy 2024/2025. You are to get in touch with the Field Team Leader, Head of Sub-delegation, and the broader health team to ensure the medical services are timely and coordinated.
It is a one-of-a-kind chance to make a real difference to the lives of war-ravaged people, where the access to health care is definitely hindered due to the displacement, infrastructure breakdowns, and continued insecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular health needs assessments and perform data analysis to identify service gaps and the populations in need.
- In the case of health programs, you can support, carry out, and evaluate them in consultation with the government, NGOs, and UN.
- If you are the person in charge, ensure uninterrupted medical service delivery , not only during emergency response but also running mobile clinics.
- Compile detailed reports, update tracking systems, and keep records of the best practices.
- Implement capacity-building activities and promote medical neutrality and humanitarian access.
- Support the implementation of international humanitarian law (IHL) and ethical norms in all health interventions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate possesses a university degree in medicine, nursing, public health, or a related field.
- Is 3–5 years of experience in health programs management, ideally in conflict areas or regions with insufficient health services.
- Past work with humanitarian organizations (ICRC, Red Cross/Red Crescent, or other NGOs) is highly regarded.
- The individual demonstrates robust analytical, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
- Speaks Arabic fluently and English competently (both writing and speaking).
- Has cultural sensitivity and capability of adaptation and is devoted to completing the principles of humanitarianism.
