💼 Common Responsibilities (by Role Type)

 

 

While responsibilities vary by role, here’s a general overview of what these positions may entail:

Program/Project Officers (Education, Agriculture, Gender, etc.)

  • Design, implement, and monitor project activities
  • Coordinate with field teams, partners, and stakeholders
  • Train and mentor community facilitators or volunteers
  • Ensure alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements
  • Prepare reports, success stories, and monitoring tools

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator

  • Develop and manage M&E frameworks and systems
  • Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting

Community Facilitators/Mobilizers

  • Engage directly with communities to raise awareness and participation

General Requirements & Qualifications

 

 

While specific qualifications vary per role, the following are common eligibility criteria :

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields:
    • Social sciences, development studies, public administration, education, agriculture, gender studies, business, economics, finance, etc.
  • Relevant certifications in M&E, project management, child protection, or data analysis may be required

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2–5+ years of relevant experience depending on the level of the role
  • Experience in humanitarian or development contexts preferred
  • Prior work with NGOs, UN agencies, or government development programs is an advantage

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work in multicultural, multi-sectoral environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with data collection tools (e.g., KOBO, ODK)
  • Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Somali, Amharic, Swahili, Arabic) is often preferred
  • Commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and ethical standards

  • Must be eligible to work in the country of posting
