About the Project

Restless Development Uganda is excited to launch a transformative project aimed at enhancing youth participation in governance and accountability across Uganda. The Promoting Youth Inclusion in Governance and Decision-making project seeks to empower young people to actively engage in decision-making processes, foster inclusive governance, and strengthen accountability mechanisms. We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team and drive this impactful initiative forward.


Available Job Opportunities or Roles

1. Programme Coordinator

Overview: Lead the strategic implementation of the project, ensuring effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee project work plans, budgets, and timelines.

  • Coordinate with partners, government agencies, and youth groups to promote inclusive governance.

  • Supervise programme staff and ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Represent the project in high-level forums and advocacy platforms.

  • Report on project progress to donors and stakeholders. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Political Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in programme management, preferably in governance or youth-focused initiatives.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of Uganda’s governance structures and youth inclusion policies.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.


2. Programme Officer

Overview: Support the delivery of project activities, focusing on youth engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement project activities, including workshops, training sessions, and community outreach.

  • Mobilize and support youth groups to participate in governance processes.

  • Collect and document success stories and case studies.

  • Assist in preparing reports and project documentation.

  • Collaborate with local partners to ensure effective activity implementation. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in community development or youth-focused programmes.

  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse groups, including youth and community leaders.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.


3. Driver

Overview: Provide safe and reliable transportation for project staff, materials, and stakeholders to support project operations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive project staff and stakeholders to meetings, workshops, and field activities.

  • Ensure the vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and roadworthy.

  • Maintain accurate travel logs and adhere to safety protocols.

  • Assist with minor logistical tasks as needed. Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • At least 3 years of professional driving experience.

  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.

  • Good knowledge of Uganda’s road networks, particularly in project areas.

  • Strong time management and interpersonal skills.


4. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

Overview: Design and implement the project’s MEL framework to track progress, evaluate impact, and promote learning.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the project’s MEL plan, including indicators and data collection tools.

  • Conduct regular monitoring of project activities and outcomes.

  • Analyze data and prepare reports to inform decision-making.

  • Facilitate learning sessions to share insights with the project team and stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in MEL, preferably in governance or youth programmes.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or similar).

  • Strong report-writing and presentation skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.


5. Finance Officer

Overview: Manage the project’s financial operations, ensuring transparency, compliance, and efficient use of resources.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and financial reports.

  • Process payments, maintain financial records, and ensure compliance with donor guidelines.

  • Conduct regular financial audits and risk assessments.

  • Support the procurement process in line with organizational policies.

  • Provide financial updates to the Programme Coordinator and management team. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or ACCA certification is an advantage).

  • 3+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in NGO settings.

  • Knowledge of financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks).

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
