The Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) is a strategic platform designed to strengthen cooperation between Africa and the European Union in the energy sector. It supports initiatives that expand access to secure, affordable, and sustainable energy across both continents.

 

 

Hosted by GIZ under its Global Energy Transition Programme (GET.pro ), the AEEP Secretariat plays a central role in organizing flagship events like the AEEP Forum and Energy Talks webinar series , which bring together policymakers, private sector leaders, civil society, and technical experts from around the world.

 

 

This internship gives you hands-on experience supporting these high-level activities while contributing to global efforts toward a just and inclusive energy transition.


💼 Role Overview: GIZ Communications & Event Management Intern

 

 

📅 Internship Duration : August 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026
📍 Location : Bonn, Germany (on-site)
💶 Monthly Stipend : €2,205.04
🏢 Host Organization : Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

 

 

You’ll support the Secretariat’s team in planning, promoting, and executing key communications and events—including hybrid and in-person formats—with a focus on Africa-EU energy dialogue.

📌 Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing major events like the AEEP Forum and Energy Talks webinars
  • Coordinate logistics such as speaker invitations, agendas, and attendee communications
  • Draft press releases, success stories, newsletters, and briefing materials
  • Support social media content creation and website updates
  • Monitor media coverage and provide communications insights

🎓 Who Can Apply?

 

 

To qualify for this internship, you should meet the following criteria:

 

 

✅ Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 6 months) from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in:

  • Communications
  • International Relations
  • Political Science
  • Development Studies
  • Social Sciences
    or a related field

 

 

✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (C1 or higher)
✅ Knowledge of German or French is a plus
✅ Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel)
✅ Experience with digital tools like email marketing platforms, CMS systems, and social media management tools is preferred
✅ Ability to multitask, work independently, and thrive in multicultural environments
