Position Overview

Project Manager, INCLUDE Project

 

 

Your role as the Project Manager for the Agri-Food Sector at SNV Uganda’s INCLUDE project involves mobilizing a 5-year transformative intervention to uplift the living income and resilience of 75,000 smallholder farmer households in the Busoga, Rwenzori, Greater Ankole, and Kigezi regions. This full-time job is based in Fort Portal, Uganda and requires a hands-on leader who is skilled in inclusive development and systems thinking.

 

 

The INCLUDE project is all about sustainable livestock production and inclusive market development that are achieved through the Participatory Integrated Planning (PIP) methodology. You will be directing the farming communities to improve their adaptive capacities, use the land in the most efficient way, increase the productivity, and get access to the better markets and nutrition.

 

 

You will be responsible to the sector leader of the Agri-Food Sector in SNV Uganda. While you are overseeing a team of 32 dedicated staff, you will open the communication channel with the donor, EKN. Your leadership will be crucial in matching project delivery with donor priorities, guaranteeing high-quality implementation, solid reporting, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Technical Oversight

  • Please provide strategic direction to the INCLUDE project to ensure it aligns with SNV’s agri-food systems approach and complies with all policies.
  • Lead the project execution with an emphasis on quality and learning, making sure that the delivery is on time and correct.
  • Provide technical support to the personnel and partners, solving the problems and encouraging the continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Have a direct influence on a team of 32 people through leading, coaching, and mentoring and establishing a collaborative learning culture.
  • Go over the recruitment and the staff development to be sure that the team has the required skills and mindset.
  • Agree with the staff about the implementation of policies compliant with SNV.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Management

  • Please serve as the primary contact for donor issues (EKN), ensuring all concerns are addressed openly.
  • Coordinate with your partners who are responsible for carrying out the project as well as government institutions, civil society actors, and private sector stakeholders so that their actions are in line.
  • Connect with other food security initiatives to optimize their development outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master’s degree in various subjects such as agriculture, business, livestock development, economics, and rural development, or any other related field.
  • Candidates should have at least 10 years of leadership experience managing complex development programs in the agri-food or livestock sector, preferably with experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and inspire them to achieve results through effective planning and adaptive management.
  • Familiar with the agricultural policies and rural institutions of Uganda.

  • Contract Type: full-time, with an International employment contract
