Job Context

 

 

UNDP operates in approximately 170 countries, supporting efforts to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), based in Addis Ababa, plays a crucial role in policy development and regional collaboration with bodies like the African Union.

The Inclusive Growth (IG) team at RSCA is dedicated to supporting regional development that is inclusive, sustainable, and resilient.

Internship Roles

 

 

We are seeking six associates to support our work in one of the following key thematic areas:

1. Inclusive Blue Economy

  • Support the AUC/UNDP flagship program focused on Africa’s Blue Economy.
  • Engage in research, policy analysis, and stakeholder outreach.

2. SDG Integration and Acceleration

  • Assist in integrating the SDGs into national and local development plans.
  • Collect and analyze relevant data to support progress assessments.

3. Social Protection and Inclusive Growth

  • Contribute to regional social protection initiatives.
  • Conduct research on community-based programs and support policy advocacy.

Responsibilities

 

 

Associates will work under the guidance of the Inclusive Growth Team leads and will conduct tasks related to their chosen thematic area, including:

  • Conducting research and policy analysis.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and producing communications materials.
  • Analyzing development plans and generating reports.

Qualifications

Education

  • Enrollment in or completion of a postgraduate degree in economics, public policy, development studies, or a related field.

Experience

  • Relevant work experience is a plus, particularly in international development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong analytical skills.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • Graphic design and visual communication skills are an asset.

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is highly desirable.

UNDP interns receive a monthly stipend, and all other internship-related expenses are the responsibility of the intern. Please note that this internship does not guarantee further employment opportunities.
